🗣STOP APOLOGIZING FOR HAVING A CHRONIC ILLNESS⁣

How often are you apologizing for having an illness? ⁣
⁣
I found myself in a cycle of over-apologizing. A good apology is sometimes warranted but having a chronic illness shouldn't be on that list.⁣
⁣
Once I realized I had this bad habit of over apologizing, I knew it was time to make an effort to break it.⁣
⁣
Sometimes I still slip up but I'm more aware and thats the first step in change.⁣
⁣

Did y’all know it was National World Smile Day?⠀
⠀
I’ve always been complimented on my smile but after being diagnosed with chronic illness my smile definitely went away.⠀
⠀
1. MG affects my facial muscles. When I smiled I often looked like I was wincing in pain.⠀
⠀
2. MG also affected my emotional and mental health. I felt like I didn’t have many reasons to smile.⠀
⠀
I don’t have many pictures from my first couple years living with MG. Definitely none of my smiling.⠀
⠀
Proud to have my smile back - physically, mentally + emotionally✨⠀
⠀
Gratitude helps me smile. Reasons I’m smiling today⠀
1. Fall is here and it’s my favorite season 🍂⠀
2. I am completely MG medication free 🙌🏾⠀
3. The community is growing and I’m loving the bonds I’m making.🧡⠀
4. I have a new book to read 📖⠀
5. It’s Friday ✨✨✨⠀

I have more but I don’t want to be too long winded.⠀
⠀
What are your reasons to smile?⠀

What if the feelings you’re having are the results of caring? And you care because what you’re working towards matters to you.⠀

So why would you give up?⠀

Think of all your favorite people, places or items. What if someone gave up before those goals came to fruition?⠀

Whatever you’re working on, be it yourself, be it a project or idea… know that you’re closer than you were yesterday. ⠀

Rest. Take breaks. Walk away for a little but never give up (especially on the things that matter to you). ✨⠀
